Here is an outline of my work in the field of copy editing and proofreading to help you decide if I am the collaborator you are looking for.
I have been a writer for twenty-five years and have over eight years of editing experience. I graduated with a degree in fine art from The Royal Academy Schools in London and was soon working as a professional actor. My first play dealt with the life and work of the artist Mark Rothko and was produced in London in 2003. Subsequent plays have been seen at The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry as well as The Hampstead Theatre and The Other Palace in London. After founding The Betterton Street Writers' Group I became increasingly focussed on editing scripts and short stories and organising workshops and public readings of new writing. In addition to this ongoing work, I now collaborate with Hera Books and Leschenault Publishing as an editor and proofreader and have overseen more than twenty novels to publication. As a freelancer, I continue to edit and support the work of other writers and to bring their work to readers and audiences alike.

I've been working with Andrew Bridgmont for some time now and have always found his work to be of exceptional quality, delivered on time and to budget. He is unfailingly professional and pleasant to deal with and I would not hesitate in recommending him to any publishers looking for a first-rate proofreader.

I am a writer and illustrator. I approached Andrew to help with my thesis for my Illustration M.A. I had an enormous amount of material and many ideas. Andrew worked with me to sensitively edit the material to clarify and enhance the points I was anxious to get over. He always listened and never lost sight of my overall aims. I was thrilled with the final result. I went on to get a distinction. Many thanks!
Gwen Turner BA in Theatre Design and Masters Degree in Illustration. (Distinction)
Andrew read numerous drafts of a play I wrote, The Three Kings, and undertook the final editing work with care and respect for my aims. The play went on to be successfully produced with Thomas Brody-Sangster, Vanessa Faye-Stanley and Antony Eden.

Leschenault Press and the Book Reality Experience have contracted Andrew Bridgmont for various projects in the past. A typically excellent example of his fastidiousness to detail and fine proofreading skills would be the work he conducted on V M Knox’s In Spite of All Terror, a WWII mystery novel. There is always a balance to be achieved between attention to detail and an expedited turnaround time, yet Andrew masters this easily. I have no hesitation in recommending him to others. However, I selfishly hope he does not become so in-demand that I can no longer use him on projects myself.

I owe the intelligence, astute observation, concise thinking and sensitivity of Andrew Bridgmont to the outcome of my play Stray Dogs. Stray Dogs was produced at Park Theatre London and was nominated for three Obbie awards one of which was ‘Promising New Playwright’.
Andrew is a subtle and detailed thinker. His talent as an editor of other people’s work is related to being gifted at listening. He can hear words that can be taken away or need to be added for feeling and action. He is brilliant at less is more and clever at challenging gaps and leaps of thought. As an editor, he offered me questions, notes and suggestions that covered a range of issues from punctuation and grammar to the use of specific words, to the sense of a flow of thought in a sentence in relation to the arc of the play. Being a musician Andrew has a brilliant instinct for rhythm.
He creates a relationship with the writer that opens up territory and respects the vision.
Olivia Olsen, playwright
Andrew produced, along with other plays, a rehearsed reading of my play The Touch of a Butterfly’s Wing at The Other Palace Theatre, London and he did so with admirable skill, putting together an excellent cast. Andrew is the de facto leader of the Betterton Street Writers’ Group of which I am a member. His attention to the work of others is thorough, skilful and empathetic. His own writing is imaginative and of the highest standard.
